The visit of Las Navas del Marqués to Chapi stadium saw our favourite Spanish vets team return to winning ways. The return of Lewis 1 after injury boded well and an opener (by someone?) was followed by a Charles rocket from a short corner putting Chapi in control. Unfortunately, a period of mid-summer madness saw our determined opponents score twice in a 10 minute spell shortly after half-time leaving George 2 apoplectic with rage on the bench. Our idols were suddenly on the rack.
But, despite knee injuries to Charles and Francis, the George-Lucas pairing was directing the midfield and Arthur (yet again!) fired in from the edge of the box. With time running out, and with El Davo distracting the opposing defence by running around in circles to no obvious purpose, Arthur rose to head home a corner and seal the win.
A new feature will be a weekly profile of Chapi players, starting with talisman - Arthur! When he's not banging them in for Chapi, Arthur works as a tobacco salesman (sounds like an easy job over here given that most of the population seem to be puffing away morning till night).
He is well accustomed to holding the ball up while leaden-legged midfielders amble upfield and is well-versed in the latin art of writhing in agony one minute while sprinting onto a through pass a few seconds later.
